Christmas in Space

I saw the snow
I watched it float above the ground
Lit up and aglow by a star beneath the clouds
They took my presents as the evidence
That he was watching me
He sees you when you sleep
He knows when you're awake
He'll jingle all the way into our trap
Underneath my tree, it is not what it seems
(Now guide him to us)
Just presents sent to me from my friends and family
Just listen to me
A ship with a fireplace
It's the only one in space
A chimney with a tree
And ornaments that just won't stay in place
You do not have shake any snow globes
There's no gravity
No one can hear you jingle when there's no
Air for you to breathe
He knows that you've been good
And that we've been bad
He'll sleigh right into our hands
He'll jingle all the way right into our trap
Then we'll learn how his secrets
Underneath my tree, it is not what it seems
(Now guide us to him)
Just presents sent to me from my friends and family
Just listen to me
Underneath my tree, it is all the proof they need
(Now what's inside them?)
A gift and note that reads:
From: Santa Claus
To: Me
Underneath your tree
(And our satellite feed)
Is all the proof we need
We know exactly where he will be
Yeah, his lead dog is too bold
He's red, white, and he glows
That's a bit on the nose
Underneath my tree, it's not what it seems
(And our satellite feed is all the proof we need
Yeah, it's just what it may seem)
Listen to me
Sometimes seeing should not mean believing
So give up this abductive reasoning
Do you only believe in the air that you breathe
When it's cold enough to see?
Maybe underneath my tree
There much more than there might seem
Underneath my tree, it is all the proof I need
That he'll come for me
And our satellite feed is all of the proof we need
Just listen to me
Underneath my tree, it is all the proof they need
Just presents sent to me from my friends and family

Lights on the Tree

Christmas Eve night
Tucked in my bed
Anxiously waiting
For sleep to come take me
But nothing is taking me
Try as I might
Flickering lights
Patterns and shadows
Of figures grow bigger
They’re marching and spinning
They dance in the door frame
And into my eyes
How can I sleep?
When all of my wildest
Childish dreams
Awaken at night
Illuminated by
Lights on the tree
Lights on the tree
Snowflakes outside
The falling of flurries
Dampen the stirrings
Of creatures and dancers
And all of the soldiers
With gingerbread feet
Wind on the pane
Howling like ghosts who
Fly in from the cold
Like stories we’re told
When we’re just old
Enough to believe
How can I sleep?
When all of my wildest
Childish dreams
Awaken at night
Illuminated by
Lights on the tree
Lights on the tree
